SIGNAL LIMINALE is a curated group chat on Signal. It is partially legible. We view this as a feature to tend, not a bug to be fixed.
SIGNAL LIMINALE is situated in an understanding that we as a species are experiencing a more-than-human predicament. The 2030s will be decisive, and we are now (or need to be) in a liminal space between what has been and what may be. We se our group as a living inquiry into systemic questions such as: What is breaking, or dying? What is emerging? What are we asked to hold, and what are we invited to create? What futures are available to us? How do we approach them?
SIGNAL LIMINALE is a response to a felt need. In this group we sense-make together. We explore the increasingly entangled and messy realities of our world and share weak signals, fringe initiatives, provocative perspectives, and partial insights as seeds, nutrients, water and sun. We need each other. Together we can uncover what is sprouting and see new patterns. We can lovingly challenge and support each other. We can build resilience and cohesion in a time when polarities and fragmentation is the norm.

Housekeeping
SIGNAL LIMINALE is co-stewarded by Alexander and Jan in the spirit of care, diversity, togetherness and community. Please dive into our shared space, and be our companions in sense-making. This is an asynchronous chat, you participate when you can, and as much it suits you.
For the sake of maintaining trust we ask that the highest level of personal integrity is honoured. Share content from SIGNAL LIMINALE as you wish, but never attribute it to a member without direct permission. The balance between sharing your knowledge, ideas and work and unsolicited self promotion or marketing can be delicate. We trust that you can navigate this. If you are uncertain about what may be appropriate – please ask.
If you want to suggest new members, that is appreciated. It should be someone you know well enough to vouch for. Send names to us and we will make the final approval.
The Signal app does not store channel history making it empty when new members arrive. Because of this new members will be introduced in cohorts. So a bit of waiting can be expected. All members will be asked to present themselves in a shared document. When we add a cohort we will create a brief overview of what has been recently discussed.
As part of our curation we’ll occasionally share reflections of our conversations. Sometimes we may also introduce themes to discuss.
If you have any questions – ask them.
We look forward to weaving together.
Welcome!
Alexander Crawford & Jan de Man Lapidoth
